ITANAGAR, Jun 4: In what could be termed as an irresponsible act, a video has gone viral on social media where police personnel are seen recording a video of a conversation with YouTuber Paras Singh while guarding him in the cell of the Under Trial Prisoner (UTP).
Within few hours, the video was circulating like wildfire in WhatsApp and other social media platforms.
The policeman's irresponsible conduct of recording and circulating the video has drawn criticism from civil society.
‘I on behalf of the entire team of International Human Rights Organization –Arunachal Pradesh urge upon the denizens of Arunachal Pradesh not to upload or share this video on social media,' wrote Rimmo Lollen from International Human Rights Organization –Arunachal Pradesh and added, if anybody is found to be doing so then strict action will be taken against the person.
When contacted, Superintendent of Police –SIT, Rohit Rajbir Singh said “This video seems to be from the court lockup at Yupia. SP prisons is conducting an inquiry in this matter. Paras is not under our custody now, it is a jail matter, will have independent inquiry into the incident."
Further, he said,"We have identified some URLs of Facebook and have sent them a notice to take the video down."
This incident has once again exposed the indiscipline within the state's security establishment which has drawn flak for involvement in drug trafficking.
