PASIGHAT, Jul 21: The villagers of Tekang, Yagrung and Sibut under Pasighat Block on Monday initiated a mass social service on self-help basis for renovation of roads at Gobo-Pokdum comprising the link road from Pasighat-Ledum-Tene (PLT) to the National Highway at Tode-Rani area.
The renovation of the damaged portion was carried out by Kayi Gumín Welfare Society  (KGWS) of Tekang involving the denizens and youth wings of Tekang, Yagrung and Sibut villages by using pressing machines. “The team revamped the block point by installing a large Hume Pipe underground and effecting smooth plying of vehicles through the culvert,” informed the Vice President-Cum-Publicity Secretary, KGWS Boyem Jerang. During the renovation work, MLA 37th Pasighat West Ninong Ering and MLA 38th Pasighat East Kaling Moyong visited the site to boost the morale of the team. The duo appreciated the KGWS and appealed to all the  like-minded people and NGOs to be instrumental in delivering welfare activities without waiting for government assistance. To encourage the noble deeds, Ninong Ering and PWD Pasighat Division gave JCBs for use along with assistance from many others.
During the monsoon season, the PLT road which is the lifeline of Bosing, Legong and Upper Ramle Banggo remain persistently disrupted by the Poklék river and the medical teams performing Covid-19 duties at the nearby villages have to opt for the long route through the Gobo-Pokdum link road. Due to erosion and water logging, this link road is also a nightmare for the passengers/commuters. The already eroded gravelled road remains submerged by the community canal water causing damages to the vehicles. To ease the woes faced by the people, especially the patients travelling on medical emergencies, renovation of the road at damaged point has been taken up, KGWS sources informed.
Meanwhile,  KGWS President Tapok Tamuk, Secretary Bajing Tayeng and Yagrung Baane Kebang Secretary Tani Tabing have jointly appealed the commuters to avoid travelling through Poklék to evade any kind of untoward incident and use the Pokdum-Gobo link road during the current monsoon.
