KANUBARI, May 9: Hundreds of villagers in collaboration with Rujen Student Union (RSU) organized a rally against NSCN (K-YA) faction protesting the kidnapping of Goan Burah of Lauksim village on Monday.
Holding placards and banners, villagers shouted slogans against the militant group for the kidnapping and demanded the immediate and safe release of the Gaon Burah.
Speaking to reporters, President RSU, Chanwang Wangsa condemned the kidnapping and said "GB is the head of the family and village; today the whole village is in a tense situation."
We have no information about the GB, where and how he is as of now, but he has been kidnapped by the NSCN (K-YA) faction as per the sources, said a senior citizen Poiwang Wangjen while appealing to the militant group to immediately release the victim.
On May 7 last, group of five suspected cadres of the K-YA faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) abducted the Gaon Burah of Lauksim village of Kanubari Subdivision Napho Boham. As per sources, the militant group was asking for house taxes from the villagers amounting to Rs. 4.5 lakh.
