Itanagar, Nov 21: Vasectomy Fortnight, which is observed annually from November 21-December 4 across the country kicked off in the state from Saturday through a rally of Bullet riders from various capital-based clubs.
The rally was flagged off by the Mission Director, National Health Mission C.R. Khampa here at a private hotel. Prior to the rally, Director, Family Welfare Dr. Emi Rumi spoke on the importance of male participation in family planning by adopting Non Scalpel Vasectomy (NSV) and urged all eligible men to come forward and not compel the women only to adopt family planning methods. The ICR DMO and DMOs and DRCHOs of districts, senior officers and staff of the Mission Directorate, NHM and Directorate Family Welfare were present on the occasion. This year’s theme is ‘Parivar Niyojan Main Purushon ki Sajhedari, Jivan Main Lae Svasthya aur Khushali’.
As per records, NSV is abysmally low in the state. The Bullet riders will be generating awareness among denizens on the importance of male sterilization by distributing leaflets containing helpful information on NSV by covering various localities in the state capital. NHM PR
