ITANAGAR, Apr 18: Hibu Tamo of RGU was adjudged the winner of the World Art Day painting competition in the senior category while Deepjoy Subba of RGU and Soma Barman of DNGC bagged the second and third prize respectively.
In the junior category, Rago Taku of Green Mount School, Itanagar was declared winner while Nongmaitem Suman Luwang of VKV, Nirjuli and Kenna Tamuk of Green Mount School, Itanagar received the second and third prize respectively.
Altogether 18 artists in senior and 20 in junior category respectively took part in the painting competition.
The prizes were given away by State Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona in the closing ceremony of 4-day Art Exhibition organised by Arunachal Akademi of Fine Arts in collaboration with APLA to mark the World Art Day at Assembly Secretariat.
While addressing the participants and artists, the Speaker congratulated the AAFA members for successfully putting up such a beautiful art exhibition depicting beauty of state’s rich culture.
Reiterating that the State Assembly is committed to promote homegrown talents especially their creative and art works, the Speaker informed that for the last few years the State Assembly has involved and put in local talents in creative works of the Assembly.
He assured to extend all possible support from Assembly in future also if they come up with such creative initiatives. 
While praising all the artists for putting up their beautiful works in the 4-day Art Exhibition, the Speaker said that each painting and art work carries some meaning which is appreciable beyond words.
“Unlike text where we write so many things to pass a message, the painting is a good medium to express one’s view,” the Speaker said while suggesting the artists to use their art works to create awareness on social causes and also reflect contemporary issues.
The closing ceremony programme was also attended by Kago Habung, Secretary APLA, PN Thongchi, Special Secretary to Speaker and AAFA president Gyamar Nanam.
