Yingkiong, Sep 16: Deputy Commissioner, Upper Siang Shashvat Saurabh convened a meeting on waste management, maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene across Yingkiong township today.
All Head of Officers, PRI leaders, Goan Buras, representatives from Adi Baane Kebang, Adi Aane Bane Kebang and other community based organisations, school children and volunteers attended the meeting.
Addressing the impressive gathering, the Deputy Commissioner spoke on importance of waste management, cleanliness and hygiene and said that for improvement and promotion of tourism activities cleanliness is the key factor as tourists prefer clean and hygienic places to visit. 
Keeping that in mind we need to give more attention towards cleanliness, hygiene and proper waste management system in the town to boost up tourism activities which  in turn will boost local economy and living standard of the people, he said.
He also gave presentation on Clean and Green Upper Siang through power point presentation  highlighting existing scenario of Yingkiong. A video on waste management model of Indore city was exhibited for awareness purposes. 
For effective waste management, DC  suggested segregation of waste at household level, active participation of all in cleanliness campaign, continuous effort at home and public places, composting kitchen waste, stop single plastic use and to  follow 3Rs principal ( reduce, reuse and recyle).
 He further said that in collaboration with District Administration team will be formed at each colony to carry out cleanliness drive and each best performing team will be rewarded accordingly. Saurabh also emphasised on active participation from all sections of people including school children.
 Chairperson Zilla Parishad Upper Siang Lumgeng Litin also spoke on the occasion appreciated proactive role played by women of various colonies in  keeping Yingkiong township safe and clean. He  requested them to continue their good work to make it more clean and beautiful.
