ITANAGAR, Sep 17: Urban Primary Health Centre Itafort got an addition to its existing healthcare facilities today through the inauguration of Designated Microscopy Centre (DCM) Services for tuberculosis patients.
It was inaugurated by District Medical Officer, Itanagar Capital Complex Dr Mandip Perme in presence of District TB Officer Papum Pare Dr.P.D. Thongchi, Medical Officer-in-charge Cum Urban Health Coordinator Dr Kabak Tamar and staff of the centre. This facility will provide sputum diagnostic test for all presumptive TB cases free of cost in addition to CBNAAT (Cartridge Based Nucleic Acid Amplification Test) for detecting multi-drug resistant TB cases. Dr Thongchi informed that all laboratory technicians are well trained and capacity routine building training are being provided to ensure quality of services. He also added that Government of India have announced the task of eliminating TB by 2025 for which various patient welfare schemes such as Incentive for Treatment Compliance and Nutrition Supplementation during treatment have been introduced and urged all beneficiaries to avail these schemes.
DMO ICC while lauding the entire state and District RNTCP team for achieving this feat, expressed his full cooperation for improvement of service delivery and performance indicators. MO i/c Cum UHC urged all staff and field functionaries such as ASHA, AWW and Self Help Groups to disseminate the importance of TB diagnosis and treatment which are available free of cost from the nearest Designated Microscopy Centre and informed that TB awareness and screening will also be done during Ayushman Pakhwara and Urban Health Nutrition Day being jointly conducted by the Health and WCD Departments.
