ITANAGAR, Dec 8: Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS), expressing its anguish over the recent incidents of atrocities against women namely the rape and murder of a vet in Hyderabad and burning of a rape victim in Unnao has said that these are the reflection of a disturbing trend when women are increasingly becoming unsafe.
In its statement, APWWS said that after these two brutal incidents within a week’s time, it’s now time for the government to frame a law that will provide full security to the rape survivors, their family members, witnesses and lawyers in case threats come from the accused. Killing of the Unnao rape survivor has once again reflected the failure of our system and a sense of fear & insecurity has gripped the minds of people, it said.
Condemning the incidents, the society has extended its condolence to the bereaved family members and opined that unless Fast Track Courts are established to deal with such cases, justice for the victims will remain elusive. APWWS PR
