ITANAGAR, Nov 28: A team from the Galo Students' Union (GSU) led by its President Dope Ori on Saturday met the Likabali MLA Kardo Nyigyor and submitted a representation highlighting the shortage of subject teachers in Government Higher Secondary School, Gensi in Lower Siang district.
Immediate posting of TGTs, one each in Science and Mathematics and a full-time peon, construction of school library and toilet for both boys and girls were the demands incorporated in the representation.
During the meeting with the MLA, the visiting team also requested him to direct the DC Lower Siang to settle the dispute over the recent conflict that developed between the people of Assam and Uli village in Lower Siang district. He was also apprised of the ongoing dispute over construction of the PMGSY road from Likabali to Kangku with the appeal to bring an amicable solution through a high-level meeting with the concerned administration of Assam. Furthermore, the team requested the MLA to deploy sufficient forces to ensure smooth and timely construction of the road. The GSU President was accompanied by Secretary General Deny Boje, Social Service Secretary Yumpe Nada and Federal Speaker Gonu Taipodia.
The union has claimed that the legislator has assured to give top priority to development of education and health sectors in the district.
