PASIGHAT, Nov 28: The Brahmaputra Board is all set to host a river rafting expedition in Siang River in the name of “Brahmaputra Amantran Abhiyan” from December 16 to 22 from Gelling in Upper Siang district. In this regard, a coordination meeting was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kinny Singh in the Siang hall on Friday. 
SP Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Dean of CHF Pasighat Prof. BN Hazarika, ADC T. Borang, DTO (Tourism) T. Tatak, DMO Dr. Kaling Dai, DACO A. Jamoh, DFO T. Mize, DDMO G. Tsumo, Principal of various schools and colleges and others attended the meeting. 
Commending the effort as a great opportunity for East Siang, DC Dr. Kinny Singh informed that union ministers--Water Power Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Youth Affairs Kiren Rijiju would join the event. She urged the government officers of the district to extend all possible help in making the Abhiyan, a success.
Deputy CE, Brahmaputra Board, Itanagar, Er. Gammo Kamaki apprised the house that Siang’s (popularly known as Brahmaputra in Assam) flowing nature and land erosion problem in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh were similar. Through this river rafting, awareness on soil test and river bank protection measures etc would be disseminated amongst the people living along the riverbeds. The rafting would start on December 16 from Gelling (Arunachal Pradesh) and would conclude on January 13 at Dhubri (Assam).
