TEZU, Jan 25: A team from the All Mishmi Students’ Union (AMSU) led by Asendo Mithi made surprise visits to a number of government schools in Kathan under Wakro Circle and Hatiduba and Yealiang under Sunpura Circle in Lohit district recently.
“We made surprise visits to Government Secondary School Wakro, Government Secondary School Medo, Government Secondary School Yealiang, Government Higher Secondary School Jeko and the Upper Primary Schools in Pukhuri, Kahe and Hatiduba respectively,” the union representatives disclosed. During their visit, the team while interacting with the Teacher-in-charges pleaded for maintaining the quality of education. The union also enquired about the number of teachers and students and the grievances raised by parents. The school heads apprised the team about the problems faced by them particularly the shortage of subject teachers. The team was also urged to pursue the matter at government level.
Earlier, at Khatan village under Wakro Circle the team had a detailed discussion on border issues faced by the villagers. Highlighting their plight, the villagers requested the team to apprise the appropriate authority regarding proper demarcation of Lohit and Changlang districts for peaceful coexistence
