ITANAGAR, Jun 1: The Koloriang, Damin, Parsi-Parlo, Sarli Students Union (KDPSSU) has expressed its frustration over the lack of necessary medical staff in the Koloriang Constituency. The union has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Mission Director of the National Health Mission - Arunachal Pradesh, demanding the immediate posting of required medical personnel. On failure to meet this demand, the Union threatened to resort to democratic movement.
Speaking to the media, KDPSSU President Keji Chabok informed that  the union has repeatedly pleaded to the competent authority for posting of necessary medical staff. However, their grievances have gone unheard. The absence of medical staff has caused immense difficulties for the people of Koloriang constituency, especially those residing in remote areas. President Chabok lamented that villagers have to travel hundreds of kilometers to receive medical assistance for any health issues they face.
Chabok further claimed that the shortage of staff was a result of the transfer of existing personnel without providing replacements. Even the existing Nursing Officers have been transferred from the constituency. Therefore, the union urgently appealed to the state government to promptly post the required staff. If necessary, the government could also consider appointing Nursing Officers through proper recruitment procedures, as there are numerous trained nurses who have already completed their courses, the Union said.
Meanwhile, the General Secretary of KDPSSU Chello Tugbin emphasized that the union also demands the posting of a General Duty Medical Officer (GDMO) at Chera Talo District Hospital at Koloriang, as well as the provision of necessary equipment for the hospital. The union also urged for administrative approval and the allocation of positions for Block Community Mobilizers, Block Data Managers, and Block Account Managers in the constituency.
