ITANAGAR, Nov 20: A team from the Galo Students’ Union (GSU) led by its President Dope Ori met Health Minister Alo Libang today and submitted a representation highlighting the hardships faced by the people of West Siang district due to shortage of qualified medical professionals.
The visiting team apprised the Health Minister on immediate requirement of specialists such as Medicine (1), Paediatrics (2), Obs. & Gynaecology (1), Anaesthesiologist (1) and Surgery (2) at General Hospital Aalo. “The state government has recently appointed 34 Junior Specialists through the APPSC to meet manpower shortage at hospitals. Therefore we want to request the Minister to post some of these specialist doctors at Aalo General Hospital too,” the representation read.
According to the union, the issue of shortage of specialists was placed before the concerned authority earlier, but no action has been initiated till date. General Secretary Deny Boje and other members of the union were part of the team.
