KHONSA, Jun 23: In a successful combing operation, an undertrial convict who managed to escape from the JMFC, Khonsa courtroom was rearrested by Tirap police here from a hideout in the township on Tuesday.
The said convict Noktey Ruttum of Old Paniduria on Monday fled the courtroom during pronouncement of judgement in relation to Deomali PS Case No. 05/2017 u/s 448/384/506 of the IPC as a desperate attempt to escape detention on being convicted. Receiving the information of the escape, SP Tirap, Kardak Riba directed all the officers of Tirap Police to block the probable escape routes and undertake strict naka checkings to apprehend the convict along with activation of intelligence sources. A day later, acting on the inputs from various sources that Ruttum had been spotted  somewhere in Engineer Colony, two teams led by Inspector W. Kamhua and SI O. Ronrang under close supervision of the SP Tirap were formed. All the probable escape routes were covered by deploying sufficient stops followed by a combing operation from the opposite ends of the general area.
Ruttum was finally apprehended.
A fresh round of judicial custody was ordered by the JMFC court and a new case u/s 224 of the IPC has been registered against the convict. DIPRO
