Khonsa, Nov 15: An active ULFA cadre surrendered to security forces during a joint operation on November 13, in the general area Noglo village.
The Assam Rifles, in close coordination with Tirap Police and Assam Police carried out the operation based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence and movement of the insurgent. The joint team launched a well-coordinated operation, leading to the voluntary surrender of SS Pvt Kamal Akhun alias Vikas Mohanta, aged 23 years, affiliated with the banned outfit ULFA.
During the surrender, a pistol, magazine and live rounds were deposited by the cadre.
The surrendered individual, along with the deposited weapon and ammunition, has been handed over to Tirap Police for further legal formalities and rehabilitation procedures as per established norms.
The successful outcome of this joint operation reflects the strong inter-agency coordination between Assam Rifles,Tirap Police, and Assam Police, and highlights their collective efforts to encourage insurgents to return to the mainstream.
