LONGDING, Oct 23: Two drug peddlers involved in the transshipment of Brown Sugar in bulk from Kamka village in Myanmar to Zedua village in Longding district and further sale of the contraband to various parts in Longding has been arrested in a joint operation on Friday.Their arrest is being seen as a major blow to the illegal drug network in Longding District.
Based on specific intelligence input regarding the presence of two drug dealers in possession of contraband items in Zedua village, a joint team of Longding Battalion Assam Rifles and Longding Police apprehended the duo.
The drug dealers were found in possession of two packets comprising 25 gm of Brown Sugar worth Rs 5,00,000/- and the sale proceeds of Rs 57,780.00, a press statement by the Assam Rifles stated.
The drug dealers along with the seized contraband and cash amount has been handed over to Longding Police Station on October 22 for further investigation.
