ZIRO, Mar 11: The Lower Subansiri Police apprehended two drug peddlers along with suspected heroin at Ziro today.
Acting on a tip-off that suspected drug peddlers were seen near SSB gate, Ziro, Superintendent of Police, Lower Subansiri, Harsh Indora formed a team under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tasi Darang to nab the peddlers.
Subsequently the team intercepted a scooty near SSB gate and apprehended two persons along with 48 tubes containing suspected heroin and one plastic packet containing suspected heroin powder worth ₹1,40,000 and a cash of ₹ 15000.
A case vide Ziro PS c/ no- 11/21 U/S- 22(a)/27(b) NDPS act is registered at Ziro Police Station and case endorsed to SI Inya Tato for further investigation.
SP Harsh Indora stated that a strong legal action will be taken against drug peddlers.He further appealed to civil society and student bodies to come forward to unitedly fight against menace of drugs in the district.
