LUMLA, Mar 25: In a shocking case of sexual assault involving a minor, Lumla Police Station acted with remarkable speed, arresting two accused within just two hours of receiving information about the crime.
According to police sources, information was received on March 23 last, regarding the sexual assault and molestation of an 11-year-old girl. It was revealed that the incident had taken place when the victim was only 9-years-old, raising serious concerns over delayed reporting and the trauma suffered by the child.
Acting immediately, a special police team was constituted under Officer-in-Charge Ajati Mimi, along with SI Jowa Dondu, ASI Alok Kumar, and other personnel. The operation was carried out under the close supervision of Superintendent of Police Tasi Darang.
Demonstrating efficiency and coordination, the police team successfully tracked down and arrested both absconding accused within a span of two hours.
The accused were subsequently produced before the Special Court under the Sessions Court in Bomdila.
A case has been registered at Lumla Police Station vide Case No. 02/2026 under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).
