SAGALEE, Feb 13: Former Chief Minister and MLA-Sagalee Nabam Tuki today inaugurated the RCC Bridge at Leporiang here amidst a huge gathering of HoDs, PRI leaders and common people.
Addressing the gathering, Tuki appreciated the executing agencies and nodal department for completing the project within the stipulated timeframe. “This is a commendable job done by all concerned officers, executing agencies, workers and even villagers for their support in completing the project,” said Tuki, adding that everyone should come forward for development and refrain from creating hindrances.
Completion of this bridge will help the villagers cut their time in travelling, asserted the former Chief Minister while appealing the people to refrain from hunting. He also urged the native people of Sagalee to stay connected with their roots and at least build houses in their concerned villages.
While responding to the memorandum submitted by the villagers, Tuki assured to extend all possible help to fulfil them like erecting protection wall on both sides of the completed bridge, community hall at Ressing, Link road from Leporiang-Sango to Langruk and MIP channel work.
Elaborating about the bridge, Executive Engineer (PWD) Sagalee-Er. Nabam Takar stated that the RCC bridge over Pare river will connect at least three villages namely Ressing, Tabio, Papesango under Leporiang Circle of Papum Pare district and has a 40-meter span with a carriageway of 7.50 meters. It can be recalled that works commenced on May 6, 2017 with an estimated cost of Rs 700 lakh under the Central Road Fund. This is the second RCC bridge with Rocker & Rocker cum Roller Bearings type after Doimukh in Papum Pare district and has been executed by the local contractor under the supervision of PWD, added the EE.
We are very much pleased now as the bridge has been our long pending demand, said a villager from Ressing. Earlier we had to cross a log bridge constructed by us, which used to get swept away every year creating nuisance for villagers, he recalled.
Besides Tuki, President Mahila Congress Committee (AP) Nabam Yakum, SE(PWD) Sagalee Er. Hage Bida, ADC Sagalee S Lowang, EE(PWD) Sagalee Er. Nabam Takar, EE(RWD) Er T Techi and other dignitaries attended the event.
