ITANAGAR,  Jul 7 : Normal life came to a standstill in the Capital Complex Region on Tuesday as the Itanagar Capital Complex went into day 1 of the weeklong total lockdown imposed in the wake of a spurt in COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile Covid-19 cases maintained its surge with 6 more new cases-- Itanagar capital complex 5 and Namsai 1. Among the cases in the capital one is of a health worker of the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences, dedicated covid hospital.
Following the death of an infant at NEIGRIHMS, Shillong after testing positive for Covid-19, who was earlier treated at TRIHMS, 76 contacts were traced who had come in close contact with the deceased child. From this 60 samples were collected where one health worker tested positive.
Meanwhile, the office of the Capital SP has been sealed after  a lady constable  working in the said office tested  COVID positive today.
SP Tumme Amo informed that he along with all the staff of the office are under self-quarantine at the office itself and the sample testing of the SP including the staff will be held tomorrow.
The official also confirmed that the said constable was working in the Women Police station, Itanagar, and recently joined the SP office on June last. After finding COVID positive she has been admitted to the COVID Care Centre (CCC).
Although officials from the Health Department didn't confirm about community spread of COVID 19, they informed that during the weeklong lockdown, they can examine to arrive at a conclusion about community spread, if any. As of now, almost all the positive cases are being detected from the quarantine centres, added the official.
The Capital region is the worst-affected in the state with 89 of the 169 active cases. 105 people have been cured of the disease in the state so far while two patients have died.
