Ziro, Aug 31: Deputy Commissioner, Lower Subansiri district inaugurated the Fish Farmers’ Training and Skill Development programme under National Fisheries Development Board at the Tarin High Altitude Fish Farm in Siro on Monday.
Addressing the fish farmers, DC advised them to adopt scientific methods for rearing fish to increase productivity and stressed on producing fish feeds locally to mitigate the cost factors. “To assist such initiatives, the government has rolled out Kissan Credit Cards for providing working capital,” she informed, advising the farmers to avail the benefits. DFDO and District Agriculture Officer urged the participants to utilize the training programme to improve skills on fish rearing. The DVO spoke about integrated livestock-cum-fish culture and Assistant Director of Textiles and Handicrafts dwelt at length about integrated sericulture-cum-fish culture.
Around 50 fish farmers attended the training programme. Besides technical sessions they will also be provided practical inputs through field visits. DIPRO
