BOMDILA, Oct 10: To preserve and promote the traditional culture of weaving of carpets in Monpa communities, a month long training is underway at Dirang.
Initiated under the Border Area Development Programme, Department of Textile & Handicrafts, Bomdila in collaboration with the Women’s Welfare Association of Dirang is organising the training which will conclude on October 23 next.
Deputy Commissioner, West Kameng District, Karma Lekhi while formally launching the programme today appreciated the move to preserve and promote the old tradition of weaving adding it will help the state to achieve the goal of “Atma Nirbhar Bharat”.
Fifteen selected artisans of Dirang are participating in the training and five kgs of yarn under Chief Minister Indigenous Textile Promotion Scheme (CMITPS) were distributed to each. DIPRO
