State Cabinet takes key decisions towards decentralised governance
Ziro, Jan 30: A Traditional Village Knowledge Bank (TVKB) was inaugurated at the Mahatma Gandhi Skill Development Centre, Hong Village, Lower Subansiri District. The initiative marks an important step towards strengthening access to agriculture and livelihood related knowledge at the grassroots level.
The Traditional Village Knowledge Bank is envisioned as a community-based platform to facilitate access to traditional agricultural and allied knowledge, while also supporting farmers and rural households with reliable, location-specific information on agriculture, allied sectors, and livelihoods. The initiative aims to empower farming communities through informed decision-making and the adoption of sustainable practices.
The TVKB initiative is guided by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and implemented by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Lower Subansiri, with a special focus on preserving indigenous wisdom, skills, and values passed down through generations.

Punyo Hinda, Executive Director, Mahatma Gandhi Skill Development Centre, Lower Subansiri District.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasized the importance of knowledge-sharing platforms like the Village Knowledge Bank in enhancing agricultural productivity, conserving traditional knowledge systems, and improving rural livelihoods. They highlighted that such initiatives would play a crucial role in building resilient and self-reliant farming communities.
Local farmers, rural youth, and other stakeholders actively participated in the programme and expressed optimism that the Village Knowledge Bank would serve as a valuable resource hub for Hong Village and the surrounding areas.
The inauguration of the Traditional Village Knowledge Bank at Hong Village stands as a significant milestone towards knowledge-driven and sustainable rural development in Lower Subansiri District.
