PASIGHAT, Sep 25: State Health Minister Alo Libang today visited the herbal medicine treatment centre of traditional herbal specialist, Yanung Jamoh Lego here.
In a move that is viewed as an effort to promote and encourage traditional herbal treatment in Arunachal Pradesh, Libang visited the centre here at GTC in order to see patients getting first-hand treatment and witness the preparation process of herbal medicines. After viewing the activities of the centre attached to Lego’s residence, Libang expressed satisfaction over her dedication and selfless efforts, despite being an officer in the rank of Deputy Director under Agriculture Department of the state government. Treatment is free of cost and patients come from all across the state, nation and even from foreign countries.
“I am deeply touched by Lego's kindness who is sparing so much of her time in treating people whose diseases have been mostly surrendered by even the country’s best medical practitioners. We are looking into making this traditional herbal treatment centre more outreached so that all ailments are treated and cured,” Health Minister added. On being asked if the state government is going to take any initiative to help Lego and her herbal centre, Libang told this scribe that they will surely take a decision on it so that Arunachal’s traditional herbal medicines get noticed all across the nation. “I will discuss this with the Chief Minister so that our Himalayan herbal medicines are promoted all across,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lego shared the story of her initial struggle which began 23 years ago and has now gained popularity. “I am getting pleasure in helping and treating struggling patients most of whom are surrendered cases by doctors and lakhs of money already spent. But as this traditional branch of treatment is gifted by nature and inherited from my ancestors, I don’t want to make profits. I get immense pleasure in helping people through my herbal treatment and would love to do more for the rest of India”, added Lego. It is worth mentioning that almost all kinds of diseases including cancer and AIDs are treated in this centre and several helpers are engaged and many others deployed across the state to collect Himalayan herbs which are found in abundance in various locations of the state’s evergreen forest zone. She said that her father was a priest who often spoke of the healing properties of the herbs and rich green forest. While narrating their happiness of getting cured from the treatment, two patients, one from Dimapur and the other from Tuting under Yingkiong district said that they were speechless about the treatment which couldn’t be cured at Bengaluru despite spending lakhs.
As of now, she is running the centre entirely from her own expenses, but it would be of great help if it gets a governmental support that would also help in the furtherance of this traditional medical system of Arunachal.
