ITANAGAR, Apr 15: The Powergrid owned tower number 213 of the 132 KV Pasighat-Roing transmission line forming a part of the AP State Grid had been threatened by soil erosion caused by Dotung river.
Taking note of it, Powergrid has informed the State Load Despatch Centre (SLDC) that an Emergency Restoration System (ERS) has been successfully erected near the affected tower in a safer location despite the lockdown. Although the water level of Dotung river is low at present, apprehension persist since most rivers in the Basin of Sisar river are unpredictable and unprecedented flood may also occur resulting in invasion of silts and sludge from the mountains. Such an event can cause irreparable damage to transmission line and cause long-term difficulties for the consumers of various districts.
In order to shift the transmission line from the said endangered tower to the ERS, the 132 KV Pasighat-Roing transmission line shall remain shut from 10:00 hrs of 16th April to 16:00 hrs of 17th April 2020. This shutdown will impact the power supply of the districts of Lower Dibang Valley, Lohit, Namsai and some parts of Changlang district adjoining Namsai. During the shutdown period, power supply of these areas shall be maintained from inter-state 33KV Rupai Namsai transmission line.
Consumers have been informed that there may be load-shedding by the local electricity distribution authorities during the said periods.
