ITANAGAR, Aug 5: State Tourism Minister Nakap Nalo has said that tourism is the future of Arunachal and it will generate employment instead of recruiting employees like other government departments.
The Minister said this while speaking to media, adding that there are lots to do in this sector as 90% of the state’s area is yet to be explored. He said that tourist lodges constructed in remote areas and those lying defunct will be revived and provided on lease to generate revenues. “I have full concern about the various tourist lodges lying defunct, whether in the state capital or other remote districts,” he stated.
When asked about various calendar festivals being sponsored by the state government that charges entry fee for visitors, Minister assured that he will look into the matter and try to abolish the entry fee system of any event being funded by the state government under the Department of Tourism. Responding to query on Brand Ambassador of State Tourism, Nalo informed that earlier a Bollywood actor was roped in as Brand Ambassador, but as of now, Government hasn’t decided on any new face.
Nalo who is also holding the portfolio of Transport and Civil Aviation informed that he has already examined the situation of ISBT Lekhi, Naharalgun which is in dilapidated  condition due to waterlogging and other construction problems. “I have noted the situation of ISBT and ordered for its face-lift within March next already,” asserted the Minister.
Speaking on the Greenfield Airport, Minister said that construction will be started soon as it is the task of Airport Authority of India to construct the infrastructure, whereas state government will only confer logistic support like roads, electricity and water. “May be due to weather condition the work could get a bit delayed but it will not stop,” the Minister asserted.
Meanwhile, speaking about his constituency Nacho and Upper Subansiri District as he is also the Chairman of the District Development Committee, Naloh assured that Trans Arunachal Highway will be completed with the next five years.
