LIKABALI, Jun 6: A conglomerate of unions, including the Galo Youth Organization (GYO), Galo Students Union (GSU), and All Lower Siang District Students Union (ALSDSU), has alleged that the police in Likabali, Lower Siang have wrongfully detained innocent individuals, including Panchayat leaders and Gaon Burahs, in connection with the Torajan shooting incident.
The unions have submitted a representation to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Lower Siang, asserting that the detainees were not present in Torajan village or their respective villages at the time of the incident. Instead, they claim that the detainees were attending a meeting at Gensi Circle. The unions have threatened to launch a democratic movement if the innocent detainees are not released promptly.
Moreover, the unions emphasized that some of the detainees are not even from Torajan village and had no prior knowledge or connection to the shooting incident. They questioned the rationale behind the detention of the individuals who have no involvement or awareness of the crime.
Expressing their deep concern, the unions accused the law enforcement agency of forcefully arresting numerous innocent individuals and wrongfully detaining them at the Police station,  Likabali. They further demanded the immediate release of the innocent detainees.
