KHARSANG, Jul 17: Hundreds of people today joined the tools down strike against GeoEnpro Petroleum Ltd, in protest against the sacking of employees during the pandemic here today in front of its office.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary RTI- All Changlang District Students Union (ACDSU) informed that they will continue their agitation until the company reinstates the terminated employees. "Most of the terminated employees are lone bread earner for their family, and terminating during such pandemic is really questionable."
Meanwhile, responding to query, CEO, GeoEnpro Ajay Kumar Ray claimed that no employees were terminated by the company. However, the company has reduced its employees as per the contractual norms, he said.
He also clarified that due to 40% increase in taxes, the company is facing a huge burden and right now not in a capacity to provide salary to all the employees.
‘We encourage locals and extend all possible help through CSR. Moreover, we will reinstate all the employees as soon as the company comes to normalcy,' assured the CEO. Since July 16 last, Kharsang Circle Unemployment Youth Association, Tangsa Youth Association, All Changlang Dist Students Union, All Tangsa Students Union, CBOs are jointly demanding reinstatement of all those terminated.
