ITANAGAR, Jun 4: Union Minister, Panchayati Raj, Rural Development etc. Narendra Singh Tomar today released the Framework for Model Panchayat Citizens’ Charter in a virtual mode from the national capital.
Participating in the virtual event and representing Arunachal Pradesh, Minister, RD & PR Bamang Felix welcomed the Central initiative for formulation of the Model Panchayat Citizens’ Charter which will bring more transparency and accountability at the grassroots level. Despite communication bottlenecks and harsh weather conditions in the state, all efforts will be made by the Department of Panchayati Raj to formulate the Charter within the August 15, 2021 deadline, Felix assured. Secretary, PR Amarnath Talwade along with senior officers of the PR department participated in the event.
Releasing the framework, Tomar appealed to the states to formulate their citizens’ charters with due approval from the Gram Sabhas for covering the services rendered by the Panchayats. The Citizens’ Charter will not only help the citizens to get aware about their rights, but also make the panchayats directly accountable to the people, he said while requesting the participating states to complete the formulation process within deadline.
The Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana and PR Ministers of the participating states attended the virtual event.
