KHONSA, May 21: The 2nd death anniversary of Tirong Aboh and his son Along Aboh who along with 9 others were massacred on this very day in 2019 was observed here in the township through unveiling of their statues. A biography of late Tirong Aboh and audio songs dedicated to him were also released on the occasion.
Paramount Chief of Borduria and MLA Wanglin Lowangdong in presence of late Aboh’s wife who is 56-Khonsa West MLA, Chakat Aboh, SP Tirap Kardak Riba among others unveiled the statue-cum-monument of the former Minister and his son on the occasion.
Recalling the gory incident when Tirap lost several of its precious lives in a brutal attack by unknown assailants in Bogapani area, Lowangdong said that it's time to take a solemn pledge to say no to violence and yes to peace. Late Tirong Aboh was a visionary leader with zeal to work for his constituency in particular and Tirap district and the state as whole, he said.
The day was also observed at the Dadam Memorial ground which houses a stone-built plaque in memory of all the 11 martyrs of the May 21 massacre. DIPRO
