KHONSA, Feb 14: The annual road traffic safety week was observed by the Tirap District Police unit from February 7-11. The road safety week drive was organized at various places of the district including the district headquarters and other subdivisions.
The main activities were carried out at Khonsa and Deomali in collaboration with the district transport department and All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation, Tirap District unit. The crux of the safety week was to impart all possible awareness of traffic rules and its safety measures for the general public and motor vehicle users in particular. 
Safety First being the main motto, rallies were carried out on the streets of Khonsa and Deomali market and other places of public gathering with slogans of road traffic safety. In addition, speeches on lthe atest notifications of the amended Motor Vehicle Act were also delivered and made familiar to the masses. 
Penalties for underage driving of motor vehicles and Juvenile related offences were stressed upon. Pamphlets and leaflets containing road safety tips including roses were distributed to the vehicle users on the road as a humble gesture from the Police department.  Further the heavy rate of fatality due to road traffic negligence was also highlighted during the week long program.
