KHONSA, Apr 26: District Administration, Tirap in collaboration with Tirap Police today conducted an awareness programme on latest Covid SOPs and vaccination here at Khonsa market.
Leaflets containing Covid SOPs prepared by the DA were handed over to the President, Khonsa Bazar Welfare Committee (KBWC) Jiten Wanchha for further distribution to the shopkeepers and vendors. Elaborating on the latest SOPs, Town Magistrate-cum-CO, Longo Ripi Doni urged the shopkeepers, vendors and citizens to wear masks compulsorily in public places, issuing a warning that its violation will attract an on-spot fine of Rs. 500. Spitting in public places has been banned and its violation will lead to a fine of Rs 200, the Magistrate added. She also advised all to follow social distancing and use hand sanitizers. All shopkeepers were asked not to sell articles to customers without masks.
CO-cum-Town Magistrate, Bari-Basip Nekong Perme while appealing all not to spread fake news relating to Covid issued caveat that those found indulging in such acts will face legal action as per Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 and Epidemic Diseases (Amendment) Ordinance promulgated on April 22, 2020. She further appealed to the citizens to take the Covishield vaccine free of cost from General Hospital, Khonsa. KBWC President on behalf of the market’s business community assured to extend full cooperation to the DA, District Police and all Covid-19 frontline warriors in battling the 2nd Covid wave.
