Khonsa, Nov 25: This year’s Chalo Loku festival was celebrated by the Nocte community of Tirap district in a low-key manner today here at the Rangsom Hum (Nocte Temple) keeping in mind the Covid-19 scare.
The celebration commenced with the beating of traditional log drum locally known as Thamthoot led by the Paramount Chief of Borduria Wanglin Lowangdong in presence of Deputy Commissioner Taro Mize among others.
Although the celebrations couldn’t be carried out in a grand way like the previous years, Rantam ritual (offering to Almighty Rang ) for peace, bumper harvest and prosperity of every human being was  performed by the elders of the community at Chaam (Taam) in Rangsom Hum.
In his greetings, the Paramount Chief of Borduria appealed to the Noctes to work towards preservation and promotion of traditional costumes and ornament and divulged that a museum-cum-library would be built in Borduria in the interest of the district’s people and to attract tourists.  DIPRO
