ITANAGAR, Jun 25: In a tragic incident, a minor girl lost her life due to landslide that occurred at Donyi colony, Itanagar this morning. The minor along with her brother got buried under the debris when their kutcha house was swept away by landslide this morning.
Upon receiving the information, the District Administration including the Police, NDRF, SDRF, CRPF swung into action to rescue the minors, but unfortunately the two year old girl had lost her life. She was rushed to RKM Hospital wherein she was declared brought dead. Her elder brother was alive during the time of rescue.
After much effort, the team succeeded to rescue the girl and rush her to hospital, however, doctors declared her brought dead, informed Superintendent of Police, Capital, Tumme Amo.
The deceased has been identified as Yura Yamak, aged 2, daughter of Yura Take. A UD Case no 13/2020 U /S 174 Crpc has been registered against the incident, added the SP.
The Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom along with DDMO Moromi Dodum Sonam visited the incident site and handed over immediate relief for house damage to the father of the deceased. The DC assured them all kind of help in completing the formalities for further financial assistance from the government. MLA of Tali, Jikke Tako was also present at the location during the visit.
The DC has time and again appealed the denizens residing by the river side and landslide prone areas to move to safer locations during monsoons. Alert advisory has already been issued in this regard and also public announcement done from time to time to save precious life.
Meanwhile, an incident of drowning was reported from Naharlgun. Today at around 9.30 hrs, one Mohsin Ali, age 30, residing at press colony Naharlagun, permanent resident of Solonibari, district Lakhimpur, Assam drowned while fishing at the adjoining region of Barapani river and Papu Nallah. His dead body has been recovered from the river bank of Barapani at Pachin colony, informed SP.
He also added that a UD case no.12/20 u/s 174 Cr.PC has been registered and PM examination conducted at TRIHMS in presence of relatives of the deceased before handing over the dead body for last rites.
In another incident, a woman drowned in Lagun River near G extension, Naharlagun Wednesday evening. Reportedly the lady was returning back from her shop and got drowned while crossing the river. Her body was recovered from Nirjuli this morning. With DIPRO Inputs
ITANAGAR, Jun 25: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the loss of a minor's life at Doni Colony, Itanagar due to landslide this morning. Incessant rain for the last couple of days that triggered landslides and flood have left trails of large scale devastation in the entire state.
Conveying his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members who fell prey to nature's fury, Khandu said that the State and it’s people are with the victim during these trying times. He announced immediate release of ex-gratia @ Rs. 4 lakhs to next of kins of the deceased.
Assuring all possible support from the State Government, Khandu directed the district administration and the disaster management department to continuously monitor the situation.

Stating that the entire world is fighting COVID -19 pandemic, Khandu said, Arunachal has an added problem of natural disasters every year. He appealed to the people living in the low land areas to shift in safer places while requesting those residing in landslide prone areas to immediately get to safer locations. He issued directives to respective Deputy Commissioners and Disaster Management Department to monitor the situation on a regular basis. CMO
