SEPPA, Jun 11: Three families were rendered homeless in a major fire incident that broke out around 5am at Dori-Putung colony, New Seppa on Friday.
Station Officer (Fire & Emergency Service) Tadu Jomoh informed that the fire destroyed three OBT houses. He said a call was received at around 5.20am by him and accordingly, a team of fire tender rushed to the spot and doused the fire.
“As the area had no road connectivity for the passage of vehicles, the team walked to the place of occurrence and successfully doused the fire,” he said, adding that the cause of fire was due to electric short circuit as informed by one of the members from the affected family.
Meanwhile, Risu Dada, one of the victims said that there is no report of loss of life. However, property along with important personal documents has been damaged due to the fire.
“Not a single belonging is left after the incident. We are now homeless, I appeal to the district administration to provide a place to stay and eat,” he said. Dada appealed to the district administration to provide relief to the three families as per the norms.
He also requested town MLA Tapuk Taku to construct proper road connectivity so that the fire tender can reach the spot without any delay and problems.
Later, the East Kameng Deputy Commissioner Pravimal Abhishek Polumatla along with District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) and Circle Officer visited the place and distributed immediate relief materials to the fire victims.
