ITANAGAR, Nov 19: Demanding justice for late Techi Meena Lishi and her unborn child in unison, thousands of people including students, youths, student organizations, women welfare associations and common people today walked together in a candlelight march which started from the Yupia-Itanagar-Naharlagun tri-junction and culminated at A Sector, Naharlagun.
Participating in the march, President, Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society (APWWS) Gumri Ringu said that only the arrest of culprits would not be enough and a free and fair investigation is necessary to ensure their exemplary punishments. “We appealed to the authority to arrest the lover of culprit Roni Lishi who might be involved in the incident. Investigation authority should impose the relevant section of the IPC against her,” Ringu asserted.
Condemning the incident, President of Nyishi Nyem Achem, Khyoda Maryam Neelam urged the authority not to give bail to the prime accused Lishi Roni. “Along with Roni all the people involved in the heinous crime should be given exemplary punishment,” he added, assuring cooperation to the family members of the deceased.                .... ....Thousands join candlelight march demanding justice for Meena
Superintendent of Police, Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) Jimmy Chiram informed that five people including the prime accused Lishi Roni have been arrested. “We are collecting all evidence so that a strong case would be submitted before the court. The most-crucial evidence like the murder weapon (hammer) near Dikrong river and other evidences from the co-accused from Khonsa have been recovered,” the SP informed, adding that investigation and interrogation are going on and all angles are being weighed. Anyone found involved in the conspiracy would be arrested as soon as possible, he assured. Among others, General Secretary, All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) T Ligu, Vice President ALSDSU Kyoda Yalam and family members of late Techi Meena spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the All Tangsa Women’s Welfare Society (ATWS) organized a candlelight march demanding justice for Late Lishi and her unborn baby at Kharsang Bazaar in Changlang today. The march was joined by the Tangsa Youth Association, Kharsang Circle Unemployment Youth Association, Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society, Changlang unit and others.
