ITANAGAR, Jul 20: State government procured at least 1.50 lakh Rapid testing kits of which 78,000 has been dispatched to various districts, informed Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme  & State Surveillance Officer, Dr L Jampa during a virtual press briefing.
‘Health Department has pulled up its socks to contain the spread of COVID-19. From Rapid Testing to Sero surveillance, a team of doctors and administration are working day and night conducting contact tracing and testing,' said Dr. Jampa.
Acknowledging local transmission of the virus, he said 'There is a very thin line between local transmission and community spread, so we have to be more cautious. The recovery rate is 35% as of now but it will increase only when people cooperate with the department by containing the virus in spreading further.'
When asked about any proposal for allowing asymptomatic people for home quarantine, Dr Jampa  informed that  in many states this has been followed. ‘In our state, people are being stigmatized after society comes to know about the positive result and they are being forced to be shifted to Covid Care Center (CCC).
There are many people who don’t want to be shifted to the State Quarantine Facility and COVID Care Center. Allowing asymptomatic people for home quarantine is possible, provided there should be proper isolation room and adherence to  guidelines then there is no harm in it, said Dr. Jampa.
He further added, in CCC there are doctors round the clock to monitor the health of the positive person but in home quarantine it will be limited, he stated.  It’s a new normal now and we have to  learn to live with  the virus, suggested  Dr. Jampa.
