TEZU, Jan 11: In a strong blow to organized crime, Tezu Police cracked a high-profile burglary case reported on December 28 last year, involving daring break-ins at Astro Mart and a nearby mobile shop in Tezu Market, where cash and multiple mobile phones were looted.
Demonstrating sharp professionalism, a special investigation team led by DySP (HQ) Maga Tago, assisted by Insp. J. Aran, L/Insp. S. Namshoom, SI Haroon Jugli, SI Potom Baja and PS Tezu personnel, launched an intensive operation using advanced technical surveillance and digital tracking, conclusively establishing the involvement of inter-state criminals from Assam.
The first breakthrough came with the arrest of Jintu Tassa on December 29 from the Parasuram Kund area. Building on this success, joint raids with the 23rd Assam Rifles, Lekhapani, led to the capture of the remaining accused — Topon Bora Gohain and Nayan Jyoti Baruah — on January 7.
Police recovered over six stolen mobile phones and cash so far, with further recoveries in progress. Investigations revealed that the arrested trio are habitual burglars responsible for multiple thefts in Tezu, Allubari and Digaru, and had mapped out fresh targets in Roing, Dambuk, Namsai and Kharsang before being stopped in time, stated a release.
