Plans are on to extend services throughout state: Libang

NAHARLAGUN, Sep 4: Minister for Health & Family Welfare Alo Libang on Friday formally launched the Telemedicine Hub at TRIHMS, Naharlagun in presence of health officers and bureaucrats.
The Minister also interacted with the patients availing tele-consultation services from CHC Mahadevpur in Namsai district and HWC Siluk in East Siang district. Speaking to the media, he informed that tele-consultation services will be enabled using e-sanjeevani, a doctor to doctor/nurse telemedicine system for the Ayushman Bharat-Health Wellness Centres (AB-HWCs) and e-sanjeevani-OPD by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
“Our plan is to connect all the Health & Wellness Centres (HWCs) of the state so that patients get real-time expert advice and help,” Libang stated while informing they will work on the connectivity issues with installation of VSAT services in many gram panchayats. As of now, HWCs at Mahadevpur in Namsai district, Wakro in Lohit, Hunli in Dibang Valley and Maro in Upper Subansiri district have been connected with the Telemedicine Hub. This is a pilot project where a doctor will give consultancy and also issue prescription, if required to the patients with electronic generated signatures through the Nursing and other Health officials. Director TRIHMS Dr. Moji Jini, DHS Dr. M. Lego, DFW Dr. Emi Rumi CMS TRIHMS Dr. Hage Ambing and SNO, AB-HWC Dr. L. Jampa along with other officials of the Health Department were present during inauguration. Briefing on the new facility, Director TRIHMS said that as of now the service will be only for doctors and health officials, with plans for its further expansion where patients can directly contact the doctors through an audio-video app. “The doctors and specialists will be available for consultation in the hub and patients visiting the HWCs can avail tele-consultation services to be guided by the Health Wellness/Nursing Officer. It will be available 6 days a week from 9 am to 2pm,” Dr Jini informed.

State Nodal Officer (Telemedicine) Dr Nabam Peter informed that the project is funded under the National Health Mission (NHM) and the pilot project to provide telemedicine services in four remote locations of the state was funded through CMRF under direct supervision of the Chief Secretary.
