ITANAGAR, Apr 4: The prize distribution ceremony of the online literary competitions organized by the Sports and Literary Sub-Committee in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi University as part of 50 Years of Arunachal Celebrations, was held today at the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education here in the state capital.
The occasion was graced by Minister Education and Chairperson of the Sub-Committee Er. Taba Tedir, and Dr. N.T. Rikam, Registrar, RGU including officials from the Sports and Education Departments.
The awardees consisted of students from various parts of India. On one hand, we had winner from Odisha and on the other hand, we had winners from some of the remotest part of Arunachal Pradesh like Megdong and Kuporijo. The competition also had a large number of participations from neighbouring state Assam and the winner for bilingual essay competition (postgraduate category) was from Tezpur University.
Minister Education in his address said that Arunachal Pradesh has seen major developments in every sector in the last five decades and since 2016-17, it has especially seen rapid development in infrastructures and human resource development. He further stated that Arunachal has the potential to reach the top three state in the nation which was evident from the results of the literary competitions organized. Although entries poured in from every part of the nations, major winners are still from within the state. Furthermore, he appealed to the parents to join the movement against substance abuse which has affected the youths of the state in the recent years. He stressed that only by being actively involved in the lives of their children, can they succeed in fighting this threat.
The program also saw the felicitation of the two weekly winners of Talent Hunt competitions - Ms. Michi Sonyo Lyaniin and Mr. Ito Diyum. The Talent Hunt competition was organzied over the three weeks from February 3-20 by PR Sub-Committee under the chairmanship of MLA Zignu Namchoom. The participants sent in a short video to the official FB page of the celebration and the winners were chosen directly by viewers/followers via ‘likes’ on the said post.
Two books - “50 Years of Arunachal Celebrations: A Retrospect” and “50 Years of Arunachal Celebrations: A Florilegium”, were released as part of the event.
