ITANAGAR, Oct 17: A wildlife expedition team that has been conducting a scientific study on the biodiversity existing in the natural flora and fauna along the Siang river basin today reached Tuting and Gelling of Upper Siang district bordering China.
The team is led by Dr Abhijeet Das (Zoologist) comprising Dr Monuj Naik (Ornithologist), Dr Bivash Pandav (Tiger expert), Dr Navendu Page (Plant taxonomist), Bivek Sarkar (Entomologist), Dhritiman Mukherjee (trained wildlife- photographer), retired Professor (wildlife) Sushil Kumar Dutta and others.
They are here for a  comprehensive survey on wildlife and documentation, sound tracking of wild animals and scientific photography.
Earlier on  September 30 after reaching Pasighat, the team  conducted a survey in Poba and Lali Reserve Forests besides Daying Ering Wildlife Sanctuary bordering Assam and today wandered  into the Mouling National Park in Upper Siang district to conduct a study on wildlife thriving in the area.The expedition team has documented several species of birds, reptiles, insects and found some new species, which is not yet disclosed in detail.

Meanwhile, the Divisional Forest Officer (wildlife) of Mouling NP Boken Pao today held an awareness meeting  with the team of wildlife experts at Yiibuk village adjacent to the park, wherein the team explained the local villagers about the importance of wild animals and birds in terms of ecological balance

The team will come back to Pasighat on October 22 and culminate their expedition at Pasighat on October 25 next.
