ITANAGAR, Feb 1: The Arunachal Teachers' Association (ATA) has threatened to launch non-cooperation movement against the state government for non fulfillment of its charters of demands by desisting from exam duties in the ensuing state board examinations which is to begin in a couple of days.
Speaking to the media at Arunachal Press Club, President ATA Kipa Kechak informed that the decision was taken after the state government failed to respond to their long pending demands despite repeated submission of representations.
"The Arunachal Pradesh State Board Examination  is commencing from 3rd February next for Class V & VIII, and CBSE exams next month. So, if the authority fails to respond to our demands before the exam, we will be compelled to boycott the same by not  performing exam duties as a mark of our  non-cooperation movement," Kechak said.
Earlier, General Secretary ATA Jummar Kena informed that the association is demanding complete bifurcation of the Directorate of Elementary Education and Directorate of Secondary Education up to Block level.  Modification of present recruitment rules (RR) of all categories of employees working under both (Elementary & Secondary), till then no appointment should be done in the post of DAEO, APO & BEO. Review of ISSE Bye-law and the Post of Dy.SPD, ISSE should be inducted from the parent department as well as enhancement of Earn Leave from 10 days to 20 days and retirement age from  60 to 62 years.
Further, ATA also demanded ‘Teachers’ Protection Act’ in the state to safeguard them from any kind of physical assault. The non-cooperation movement was also supported by the All Arunachal Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (ASSATA).
