NAHARLAGUN, Mar 1: The directorate of information & public relations (DIPR) bid adieu to the Director IPR, Obang Tayeng, who retired from government service after 34 long years on attaining superannuation on February 28.

Several senior officials and staffers of the directorate and representatives from film and media houses attended the farewell programme held at the Soochna Bhavan on Monday.

Hailing from Borguli village in East Siang district, Tayeng had joined government service as a DIPRO in 1987 and served across the state. During his tenure as the IPR director, the department took several initiatives, such as the Arunachal Film Festival, the Arunachal Literature Festival, the PR Conclave, etc. Tayeng has also authored the books titled Mishmi Folktales of Lohit Valley and The Folktales of Adi.

In his address, Tayeng extended gratitude to all for their cooperation during his tenure as director. He will be succeeded by Dasher Teshi as the new director of IPR.
