Indian Army conducts ‘Know Your Army’ outreach
TAWANG, Jan 28: Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA) in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Tawang today conducted a one-day Legal Refresher Training for the Gaon Burahs (GBs) and Buris of the district here in the headquarters.
The training titled ‘Synergy between Customary Practices and Formal Laws’ was part of the ‘Access to Justice North-East and Jammu and Kashmir’ project of the Department of Justice, Union Ministry of Law & Justice. A total of 60 GBs from different villages participated in the training.
APSLSA Member Secretary Jaweplu Chai covered the topics on free legal services, legal aid clinic, Lok Adalat, Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation Scheme, 2011, Marriage Registration under Special Marriage Act, 1954 and Arunachal Pradesh Recording of Marriage Act, 2008. Project Consultant, APSLSA Advocate Marie Riba took a session on POCSO Act and clarified the doubts of the participants. Deputy Secretary, Law and Judicial Department-cum-OSD to APSLSA Dani Belo took a technical session on Assam Frontier (Administration of Justice) Regulation, 1945. Along with deliberations on Schedule Tribes & Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006, Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 etc., the participating GBs were given the opportunity to clarify doubts on their roles and responsibilities.
JMFC Tawang-cum-Secretary, DLSA Tawang Utumso Boo and Deputy Commissioner Sang Phuntsok were among others present on the occasion.
