Tawang, Jul 20: A meeting on disaster preparedness for facing this year’s southwest monsoon in Tawang district was convened here at the DC conference hall, chaired by DC Sang Phuntsok and attended by all members of the DDMA.
The DC while expressing satisfaction over the preparedness already taken by the army and paramilitary forces stationed in the district said that Covid-19 pandemic also comes under the purview of disaster management and a united fight is necessary to defeat it. He reminded that all the Head of Offices must ensure proper implementation of the SOPs such as social distancing, compulsory use of mask, hand hygiene etc. and appealed the army, paramilitary and other departments to go for mass plantation drives.
DDMO Tsangpa Tashi informed that the meeting had to be deferred due to the pandemic and the disaster management plan for the district comprising advisories and warnings for those staying in vulnerable areas have already been circulated. He further read out the preventive measures to be taken up considering the incessant rain over the last many days.
All the concerned departments like food and civil supplies, health, water supply, electricity, PWD, army and paramilitary forces informed about their preparedness plans to face any emergency situation. DIPRO
