Naharlagun, Jan 9: A Meeting cum Workshop of the District Task Force on IPPI (Intensified Pulse Polio Immunisation), IMI 2.0 (Intensified Mission Indra Dhanush) and CDR (Child Death Review) was held today under the chairmanship of EAC Naharlagun Ashok Tajo here at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat.
Tajo while highlighting the importance of creating awareness regarding immunisation and vaccination especially among people residing in interior areas, urged the Medical Officers to make such resources available at the health centres so that villagers can avail the opportunity. Calling for collaborative efforts of all stakeholders for the success of the above programmes, he further added that District Administration is ready to provide all kinds of support especially the IPPI which is scheduled to be launched on January 19 next. DMO Mandip Perme gave a detailed information on IMI 1st and 2nd rounds and IPPI 2020 and informed that during IPPI 2020, a total of 140 IPPI booths would be set up in various locations of the Capital Complex including private hospitals. Urban Health Coordinator Cum MO I/c Itafort Dispensary Dr Kabak Tamar presented a PPT on Child Death Review highlighting that infant mortality is one of the key goal of the National Health Mission and the Sustainable Development Goal is to end preventable deaths of newborns and children under 5 years of age, adding that as per 2019 data, in Arunachal Pradesh it is 42 per 1000 live births. Besides elaborating on Child Death Review, the key steps to be carried out during CDR, its types, guidelines and investigation etc, he also gave an overview on IPPI 2020.
Deputy Medical Superintendent TRIHMS Dr Tao Kaki informed that the new paediatric ward at TRIHMS would also be made functional soon along with the five-bedded SNCU, which will help in bringing the IMR drastically. He further informed that regular immunisation is being carried out in all health centres of the Capital Complex. Earlier, Dr Megha from WHO presented global and national update on Polio eradication and stressed that even after being declared a polio-free country, it is still important to give polio vaccines through Routine Immunisation and IPPI.
