Tawang, Oct 19: The last rites of Tsering Tashi, the former Minister who died on October 15 last was performed on Monday afternoon at Tsum Di Tse in his native village Khirmu amid a tearful farewell by common people and beloved ones.
The mortal remains of Late Tashi were flown in from the state capital to Tawang this morning by a helicopter for a final tribute by the relatives and people. Wife of the deceased and veteran leader Sangey Lhamu along with daughter Tenzin Dhasel, son Tenzin Jamyang were accompanied by younger brothers Thupten Tempa, the former Minister and Dr. Lobsang Jampa, the State Surveillance Officer (IDSP). On arrival of the mortal remains in the native village, the state police personnel paid the guard of honour followed by a floral tribute and offering of traditional scarf (Khada) by ADC Tawang Lobsang Tsering, SP B. Kamduk, officers, family members, relatives and villagers.
The final floral tribute to the veteran leader was followed by chanting of mantras by the monks from the Tawang monastery and offering of fire by the Senior Monk of Sera Je Monastery Geshi Jampa Thrinley. 
The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has decided to observe one day state mourning on October 20 as a mark of respect to the former minister. The national flag will be flown half mast throughout Arunachal Pradesh and state government offices outside where it is flown regularly.
Meanwhile, the officers and staff members of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, condoled the sudden demise of late Tashi and observed two minute silence to pay respect to the late leader. DIPRO
