ITANAGAR, Jun 1: The Capital Police on Saturday caught a tanker red-handed while delivering 9000 liters of adulterated petroleum products costing Rs 3, 73,824 here at Rani Sati petrol depot, Nirjuli.
Acting on inputs that adulterated petroleum products which cause serious damages to both government & private vehicles are routinely supplied to various petrol pumps in the Capital Complex, the SP Capital Tumme Amo alerted his OCs at Banderdewa & Nirjuli and kept a civilian informer on motorcycle to wait at Banderdewa gate to track the suspected tanker.
Following specific inputs given by GS NEHRO Buteng Tayeng, the police team followed the suspected tanker upon its arrival at Banderdawa checkgate bearing registration number AS06AC/1846.
The team comprising DySP CRPF, Ashok T, OC PS Nirjuli Inspector Tadu Hassang and SI of DFCSO Capital Complex Bengia Nabdo followed the tanker to Nani Sati Petrol Pump, Lekhi and caught it red-handed containing 9000 litres of adulterated petroleum products. Magistrate, Neelam Teji was also present on the spot.
The tanker has been seized and samples were collected for further investigation. As per the road challan, the tanker was sent by the Brahmaputra Cracker & Polymer Limited, Lepetkata, Dibrugarh, Assam to proceed to EPC International Pvt Ltd, Rani Nagar Industrial Growth Centre, Patkata, West Bengal, but was diverted midway and delivered to the Rani Sati petrol pump.
Both the driver Naxamuddin Shah, aged 27 years and handyman Jitendra Verma, aged 22 years have been arrested. A case vide Njl PS case no 41/2019 US 420/414/407/120B read with Sec 3 PDPP Act has been registered and further investigation is on.
