Nurse with five kids cracks state civil service exam in first attempt

Itanagar, Jun 7: Overcoming all odds, Minoty Borang, a mother of five and a nurse by profession posted in a remote Health Sub-centre at Tarak, in Siang district has cracked the state’s prestigious competitive examination conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission.
By clearing the prestigious APPSCCE in her first attempt, Minoty has scripted an inspirational story for others. “My biggest supporter is my husband Tama Saroh who always stood besides me and motivated me during this long journey,” said Minoty while narrating her success story.
When asked about her success mantra and time management, she said: “I have learned everything with my experience, whether it is nurturing my kids or upholding family relations or my job. I haven’t gone for any coaching but kept on studying even when I was cooking and for major subjects, I woke up at 3 am in the morning to study without any disruption,” informed the nurse, who within a few days will serve the state in a new role as an APCS Officer. “Instead of going for big-budget books, I have focused on NCERT books, newspapers and have also read the study materials from IGNOU’s Distance Education curriculum which I found very helpful,” Minoty revealed.
Completing her basic education from Yingkiong, after Class XII Minoty opted for the ANM course and since 2006 continued in the nursing profession and after finishing her Bachelor of Education, cleared the APTET in 2016. It is interesting to note that she did both her Graduation(2013) and Post Graduation (2018) through distance learning mode from Indira Gandhi National Open University and her bagging of the ‘Rajya Puruskar’ award as a Bharat Scouts & Guides cadet shows her knack for extra-curricular activities.
“Taking this opportunity I want to thank the Open University like IGNOU and the Distance Education system for conferring opportunities to people like us to continue with our studies and above all, I am really blessed to have a husband who inspired me all the way,” she said.
Minoty will be absorbed as a District Food & Civil Supply Officer in GoAP.

Hard work catapults Constable to rank of DSP

Jun Taki

ITANAGAR, Jun 7: Although every year, thousands of aspirants attempt the APPSCCE exam with the hope to secure a coveted post, only a handful reach the destination and such success stories do deserve wide circulation for setting them as inspirational examples for others in the race.
One such story is of a simple youth named Kekdam Lingo from Liromoba in West Siang district who fought all odds to become a Deputy Superintendent of Police. Lingo did his bachelor's from the capital’s DN College with a major in Geography. Born to Mikek Lingo and Yage Lingo, Lingo cracked the APCS in his first attempt and earlier missed an interview as his age fell short by three months from the required criteria. Lingo’s parents are full-time church workers and their main occupation is farming and although the family faced financial difficulties, educational goals for the three siblings were never compromised.
Moreover, what makes Lingo’s success special is that he was able to crack the exam without coaching when most of his peers depend heavily on this aspect.

“Imagine if you are serving as a vigilante and after you become a part of the police establishment you can understand how difficult it is to manage time for studies,” he said, adding that he couldn't avail coaching due to his assigned duties and learned everything from YouTube whenever  he got free time while serving as a Constable in the Delhi Police. He however acknowledged his wife and family for extending continuous support during the period.

"It was my parent's dream to see me as a Civil Service Officer and I thus set it as my only goal," Lingo revealed when asked about the motivational part.
The about-to-be DSP advised the upcoming youths not to be distracted or invest their time in needless things such as gaming, although he supported those who want to take up Youtubing as their professional objective.
