SEPPA, May 29: MLA Seppa -East Tapuk Taku distributed PPE kits, face mask and hand sanitizer to the frontline workers while taking part in the Masking East Kameng campaign, and appealed the public to come forward for Rapid Antigen Test here on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters, Taku said that the campaign initiated by the East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organization (EKSWCO) to create awareness among the public to follow Covid appropriate behavior is exemplary. He added that every individual from the district should follow the laid guidelines to contain the further spread of Covid in the district. ‘One should always follow Covid appropriate behaviour by wearing a face mask, maintaining social distancing and use of hand sanitizer,' he added.
“Though we have less number of Covid positive cases in the district, however  I appeal  to the public to come forward for Rapid Antigen Test,” said the MLA, while assuring that there is no harm in testing for the same as it is provided free by the state government.
Taku also lauded the district Women Welfare Organization (WWO), All East Kameng District Students Union (AEKDSU) and others involved in the campaign.
Meanwhile, East Kameng Deputy Commissioner Pravimal Abhishek Polumatla said that the district administration is continuing with RAT in the hotspot areas within the district. Thereby, appealed to the public not to be concerned over RAT.
“There is also swift progress in Covid vaccination among the youths but there is less participation in numbers for 45 years above vaccination. However, we have planned to visit each village in the district to vaccinate the people 45 years and above,” he said.
He also appealed to the respective legislators to support the vaccination drive through any means.
“I also appeal to mostly the students who venture out after 3 pm to stay indoors and stand by the order issued by the state government and the district administration,” he added.
He said lockdown is the last resort to contain the spread of Covid in the district but as of now the district is witnessing very less percentage of positive cases.
Earlier, Taku also visited the district police station and distributed face masks and hand sanitizer to police personnel.
